Hello everyone, it's been a while. I took a pause and gradually got back to the old form, and I am really glad that you have been waiting for the new posts...
For today's blog, I thought of enriching your knowledge with a day-to-day event that is happening, but we hardly notice them. So chose this topic on "Lag of few hours".
Some of you might be thinking now, what is this lag of few hours means.... is it related to a delay in train or flight or cooking hours or whatever pops up in your mind. Still, you might also be knowing that this must be related to meteorology, as the blogs are mostly related to meteorology...
When I ask you, when will the sun be overhead ? You will immediately say it is around 12 noon. Then, now, if I ask you, when do you actually feel hottest on a clear sunny day, is it at noon? Now you are thinking is it at noon? Or is it around 2-3pm ? Or when exactly is the hour that we feel hottest on a clear sunny day?
Some of you might have guessed it right? It is actually after a few hours of noon we experience the hottest hour of the day... which means high air temperature. Now, you might be wondering, why is it so?....
The reason behind this is that, when the sun is overhead to us at noon, the earth receives more solar radiation for which our atmosphere is transparent like a glass house and does not absorb the heat, it just allows them to pass through.
Now,
When the same radiation reaches the ground, the surface gets heated up and in turn heats the air above them (by conduction) and when this heat builds up continuously between air molecules (by convection), we experience the hottest hour after a few hours of noon.
Hope this post enriched you on a daily event that you may start to notice from this time on and you can share this Lag of few hours to your family, friends and colleagues, so all of you can "Enjoy Life with Science".
Stay tuned to know more about the day to day events.
